Core Type
Basic shape type of the core (Symmetric, Asymmetrical, Pancake)
Asymmetrical
RG
Radius of Gyration: measurement related to weight distribution of the core. This affects how quickly a ball will get in to a roll. A ball with a higher RG will roll later. A ball with lower RG will roll sooner.
16 LB. - 2.51
15 LB. - 2.49
14 LB. - 2.48
13 LB. - 2.53
12 LB. - 2.60
Differential
Difference between the RG of the core's x-axis and y-axis. Indicates track flare potential and stability. A higher differential means more flare potential and less stabilty. A low differential ball will be more stable and have less flare potential.
16 LB. - 0.036
15 LB. - 0.038
14 LB. - 0.041
13 LB. - 0.055
12 LB. - 0.039
Intermediate Differential
Difference between the RG of the core's x-axis and Z-axis on an asymmetrical core. Indicates the asymmetry of the core. A higher intermediate differential ball will be less stable and will transition more quickly from skid to roll than a ball with lower intermediate differential.

Kinetic Obsidian Product Notes

Track Kinetic Obsidian

We’ve improved our famous Kinetic series of bowling balls once again. The Kinetic Obsidian uses our Modified Kinetic core, combined with a solid version of our DR-7 coverstock. The combination of the two provides excellent traction in the midlane with an aggressive change of direction at the backend of the lane. This is perfect for medium to heavy oil patterns.

DR-7 Solid

Our DR (Delayed Reaction) series of coverstocks are typically used in conjunction with a polished finish. The combination of the two produce great length with a strong reaction at the backend of the lane.

For the first time, we are offering this cover in a solid version with a sanded finish. By doing so, we created the strong midlane reaction expected from the sanded finish, while enhancing the reaction at the breakpoint do the inherent chemistry of the DR series.

Modified Kinetic Core

The Modified Kinetic Core is one of several popular cores in the Track brand. This low RG, medium differential and low MB core stores energy longer and responds quicker to friction compared to Track’s other mid performance cores.
